Toyota Prius Four Review
Written by Anqoinette Crosby
Toyota isn’t resting on its laurels with its latest reiteration of the Prius. The 2018 Prius Four is a four-door hatchback that comfortably seats five. The Prius Four offers a remarkably high fuel economy, a spacious cabin and a slew of advanced safety features. You’ll also experience a smooth ride and superb handling when you’re behind the wheel of the Prius.
While some of Toyota’s hybrid rivals offer advanced safety tech as options, on the Prius they impressively come standard. The list of coveted safety features includes lane keep assist, a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control and a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection.
Our tester, the top of the line Prius Four Touring, came loaded with all the extra trimmings and extra space. We appreciated the dazzling 11.6 touchscreen, the 27.4-cubic-foot cargo area and heated front seats--all supported on 17-inch alloy wheels.
But the wow factor on the Prius is what’s under the hood that makes the hybrid deliver exceptionally high fuel numbers. That’s made possible through the power and agility of its engine. The 2018 Toyota Prius comes standard with a four-cylinder engine, which combines with two electric motors to deliver 121 horsepower. A continuously variable automatic transmission is standard. The numbers that most commuters care about are the EPA fuel economy ratings, which are 54/50 mpg city/highway. Those numbers jump to 58/53 mpg in the Prius Two Eco, which is even more efficient.
Pricing for the 2018 Toyota Prius Four starts at $24,965.
