2020 Lexus LS 500 Review
Style personified, the 2020 Lexus LS500 cossets occupants in ways both great and small. Moreover, its undeniable presence stands the handsome sedan quite confidently among the world’s premier luxury automobiles.
The marvelously executed interior boasts only the finest materials, along with a list of accoutrements reading like a what’s-what of contemporary conveniences. That said, Lexus and infotainment interfaces do remain somewhat at odds, even here. Although, this one does represent the marque’s best effort to date.
Power comes from the smoothest twin-turbocharged V6 I’ve ever encountered. Refinement and power output are the 416-horsepower engine’s primary strengths. A 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-drive complete my preferred powertrain. A hybrid system with all-wheel drive is also offered, but its lack of polish detracts from the sublime nature of the LS’ driving experience.
Ride quality is (as is to be expected) silken, but handling is better than you’d might reasonably expect from a car so singularly focused on comfort and luxury. When asked to hustle, the LS does so without complaint. Meanwhile, the big Lexus also glides along with what can only be characterized as preternatural quiet.
Powerful, smooth, refined and palatial in its accommodations; the “relentless pursuit of perfection” is wholly evident in this, the Lexus flagship sedan.
In other words, I like it.
