2020 Cadillac XT6 Review
You’ve gotta admire the way Cadillac keeps striving to regain its crown. These crisp lines, adorned with styling cues from the Cadillac Escala concept car, are more than enough to attract your eye to the XT6.
However, the interior, while quite spacious and very comfortable, doesn’t quite live up to the promise the exterior makes. This becomes really evident when the accommodations are compared to those offered by Audi, BMW, Infiniti, Lexus and Mercedes.
While the 310-horsepower V6 does its job competently, it’s a bit taxed by the XT6’s 4,700 pound curb weight. It also leaves quite a bit to be desired on the aesthetics side. Happily though, the nine-speed automatic transmission’s willingness to keep the engine in its sweet spot helps a lot. Front-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is optional.
Meanwhile, ride quality is unquestionably Cadillac. With its outstanding composure and impressive quiet, the XT6 does a more than admirable job of keeping the vagaries of the road at bay. However, the handling could be a bit more crisp.
All in all, the XT6’s handsome exterior, along with its comfortable, spacious and well-equipped interior do make for a strong effort. Yes, the Cadillac does trail the field in several other respects, but it rates a look nonetheless.
Pricing starts at $52,695.
