2018 Mazda3 GT Review
Written by Anqoinette Crosby
If you’re looking for a great commuter car, the 2018 Mazda3 Grand Touring offers a bevy of attributes to help pass the time. The five-door hatchback is also easy to operate and fun to drive, thanks to superb handling that readily facilitates negotiating heavy traffic.
Oh, and one of the most attractive hatchbacks around, the Mazda3 is a looker too. Even better, the splendidly sculpted exterior and high-quality interior comes with a budget-friendly price tag for its class.
Available as either a sedan or hatchback, both are offered in Sport, Touring or Grand Touring trims. The most comprehesively equipped, the Grand Touring model comes with exceptional premium features such as a heads-up display (HUD). An ingenious feature, the HUD helps keep your eyes on the road by displaying relevant information, like speed, at the driver’s eye level right above the instrument cluster.
The Grand Touring trim also comes with leather upholstery, 18-inch wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, a sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, LED exterior lights and satellite radio. A nine-speaker Bose stereo system pumps out sensational surround-sound so you can enjoy your own concert in the car to help ease the stresses of a tiresome commute.
As for space, there’s more than enough of it to haul around your everyday stuff in the cargo area and roomy enough for your passengers not to feel cramped.
Safety is also a top priority for the Mazda3. All three trim levels come equipped with dynamic stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes and brake assist. Touring & Grand Touring models add advanced blind spot monitoring and cross-traffic alert.
The Grand Touring is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder delivering 184-hp. A six-speed manual transmission comes standard for all Mazda3’s. A six-speed automatic is available as an option. Fuel economy estimates are 28 mpg in the city and 37 on the highway.
Pricing for the 2018 Mazda3 starts at $18,095.
